‘Her legs were bleeding, red raw, and the bridge of her feet were cut to shreds,’ she told the Hume Leader.

‘I couldn’t put shoes or pants on her for over a week. She was in a lot of pain and couldn’t use her legs for weeks.’

Ms Brown said the tiles were like sandpaper that took layers off Jemila’s skin and scarred her legs and feet.

The mother said she also cut open her own knee on a sharp edge in one of the lap pools two weeks ago.

Hume Council apologised to the many patrons who were injured and said the issue would be resolved when the tiles had time to settle.

Divers repaired numerous sharp edges in the pool after an inspection by staff and the construction company.
