Melbourne rat-tailed road rager gets a big wake up call after he skipped up to another car and spat abuse at its driver – but what sparked his sudden exit?

An alleged road rage driver with a ‘rat’s tail’ hairdo has received a shock wake-up call after angrily confronting a terrified motorist on a busy road.

The burly alleged assailant jumped from his red VW Polo hatchback at a red light before aggressively confronting another Melbourne driver in phone camera footage.

The solid-built motorist, wearing a hoodie and tracksuit pants, opened his door as he slowed in traffic, then gestured wildly as he skipped and menacingly approached.

The road rager quickly gave up on the idea of yelling at the car behind him

He then put in an impressive sprint to try and reach his car before the police reached him

Once the road-rager spotted the police, he sprinted back to his own car

But just as the footage showed him yelling incoherently at the driver through a locked driver window, karma appeared to catch up with him.

Two Victorian police officers spotted him berating the driver and her passenger and went after the shocked driver.

The footage, which appeared to be accidentally accompanied by a heavy metal soundtrack, then showed the panicked road-rager sprinting at full speed back towards his car.

The police officers followed in hot pursuit.

Although the angry motorist reached his car before the police chasing him, the footage made it seem that his chances of evading police were slim.

The traffic light was still red as the officers closed in on him.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Victoria Police for comment.
