Melbourne service station robber trapped by automatic door

  • Police released images of robber who became trapped in a Melbourne store 
  • Thief entered the store with scissors at about 8.30pm on September 20
  • Spent several minutes in view of CCTV trying to activate the automatic doors 

Police have released images of a robber who became trapped in a Melbourne service station because he could not open the automatic doors.

The thief entered the Reservoir store armed with scissors about 8.30pm on September 20.

He jumped the counter and stole cigarettes and cash.

But the front doors failed to open when he tried to flee.

He spent several minutes in full view of CCTV cameras trying to activate them.

He then tried to smash the front doors before finally managing to open them.

The offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, medium build with short dark hair.

Despite the offence occurring on a Wednesday, he was wearing underpants clearly marked ‘Friday’.
