The incident comes after a string of shootings in Melbourne over the past week which started on Saturday when former bikie gang member known as ‘The Punisher’, Suleiman ‘Sam’ Abdulrahim, 30, was shot multiple times in Fawkner.

The ex Mongols bikie was shot in the chest six times while at a funeral and was taken to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition but is now stable after receiving two life-saving surgeries.

On Sunday he posted a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed with tubes hooked up to his body while he gives the middle finger with the caption, ‘Allah is bigger than all these flops, they’ll get their day.’

It is believed the gunmen were in a Mazda SUV when they allegedly opened fire on Abdulrahim driving his $300,000 Mercedes G-Class 4WD in the funeral procession.

The gunmen then fled the scene before they crashed their vehicle into a fire hydrant at the intersection of Sydney Rd and Box Forest Rd.

A man armed with a screwdriver was also shot by police in Coburg on Monday after allegedly confronting detectives.

Police fired multiple shots at the 64-year-old man who required treatment by ambulance officers in a car park near Edgars Creek Parkland.

The man was wanted for questioning over a death of a man in Albanvale on Saturday and remains in a serious condition in hospital.
