Melissa Leong shows off her shock injuries after gruelling fight

Melissa Leong has showed off her gruelling injuries after she stepped into the ring for a fight this weekend.

The former MasterChef Australia judge, 42, took to Instagram on Saturday to reveal the bruises she sustained after taking part in a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) session.

Kitted out in her sportswear, Melissa looked solemn as she lifted up her arm to reveal some painful looking purple bruises down one of her arms.

‘Gotta start somewhere! Thank you to everyone who rolled with me at BJJ this week. Learning comes with takeaways,’ she shared in a caption.

Despite the shock injuries, Melissa flashed a smile in another photograph as she posed with two of her friends after trying her hand at mixed martial arts (MMA).

Melissa has long been a fan of MMA fighting and recently took up a new job hosting the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) Week.

Now, she has also stepped into the ring to try out the sport herself at Absolute MMA St Kilda, which is ‘renown for some of the best BJJ training in Australia’.

According to the venue’s website, its MMA program has trained a number of BJJ world champions and its athletes regularly take part in professional competitions.

Melissa, best known for her role on MasterChef, has long been a fan of MMA fighting and recently took up a new job hosting the Ultimate Fighting Championships (UFC) Week

Melissa has long been a secret UFC fan, recently telling how she likes to do things that people don’t expect as she discussed her move into MMA sports reporting.

‘I like to surprise people,’ she told the Daily Telegraph earlier this year.

‘I don’t do things deliberately for that reason, but I do get a little bit of joy out of people realising I’m not quite what they were expecting me to be.’

‘I was trained in food and food journalism specifically but I have an opportunity right now to get to learn about people’s lives through opportunities like this,’ she added.

But she has not completely left her passion for cooking behind her, as she is also hosting a brand new show called Dessert Masters.

Melissa recently described her new role as a ‘dream come true’ when speaking to Daily Mail Australia.

After her shock axing from MasterChef Australia, Melissa insisted she had nothing but love for her former co-stars amid the hosting shake-up.

‘I have nothing but love and respect for not only Andy [Allen] but everybody I’ve worked with,’ she insisted.

‘We’re a team, we’re a family, and that’s all you need to know really.’
