Three men were rushed to hospital after they were burnt with scorching hot molten metal at an Adelaide factory.

The men were splashed with 450-degree liquid zinc after a beam fell into the metal shortly before 6.30am on Sunday.

The freak accident occurred at a Adelaide Galvanising Industries plant in Cavan.

A man in his 60s suffered serious facial burns from the splash and was taken to Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.

Two others were also taken to hospital as emergency service crews praised the quick thinking of staff.

‘Their co-workers jumped straight into action and put the injured straight into a shower,’ paramedic Nathan Parks told 9 News.

Factory worker Dave Hisee was also hit by the scorching liquid but escaped unscathed.

‘My uniform took the full force of it, I’m good as gold,’ he said.

The incident is now under investigation by SafeWork South Australia.
