Men are more likely than women to challenge a will when a loved one dies if they feel they have not received enough money, a survey suggests.

Some 41 per cent of men are prepared to contest a will if they believe they deserve a larger share, compared with just 30 per cent of women, law firm Lime Solicitors found.

You can claim for reasonable financial provision from someone’s estate if you were financially dependent on them and you have been left out of a will or with insufficient provision.

Men are more worried about quality of life if they don’t get an inheritance. This is because 42 per cent of men rely on one to supplement their future finances, compared to 32 per cent of women.

Alistair Spencer, of Lime Solicitors, says: ‘Whilst it’s tough to talk about issues like these, it’s infinitely preferable to taking family disputes to court.’
