Men have revealed they feel triggered when they are told to ‘man up’ hear the words ‘we need to talk’ and when their partners ask them where they want to eat.

But they aren’t the only phrases which are guaranteed to leave them frustrated according to their admissions on Reddit.

Thousands of men took to the platform to answer a post asking for the ‘phrases men hate hearing from women’.

The most popular answer was being told to ‘man up or ‘be a real man’ while others had more humorous submissions like ‘I’m fine’ and ‘happy wife, happy life’. 

Man have been spilling on the phrases women say to them that they secretly hate including ‘be a real man’, ‘I’m fine’ and ‘Where do you want to eat?’

‘You’ll make someone very happy someday. Just admit you think I’m ugly, sheesh,’ one man laughed. 

‘You’ll make someone a great husband some day,’ a second said with another clarifying: ‘For any women wondering why this is bad, the translation is, ‘You’re totally not boyfriend material”.  

‘I want someone just like you’ Um? I’m a man just like me,’ said one user. 

Many joked they hate when women say they’re ‘fine’ when they are actually annoyed or angry. 

‘Dude: ‘Ok’…(grabs remote to turn the tv volume back up). Her: ‘I just think it’s funny how…’,’ someone laughed.   

‘I don’t know… where do you want to eat?’ another replied. 

‘Happy wife, happy life!’ It’s probably already on this list, but I know it p***es me off quite a bit,’ one bloke wrote. 

‘This only happened once, but she said that men can’t clean a house/apartment as well as women do. As someone who takes pride in my cleaning abilities that annoyed me a lot,’ a fourth recalled.

Lots of men said they hate being told to ‘man up’, ‘be a real man’, or ‘be a man’.  

‘A real man is being your own man. Find someone who appreciates that,’ one guy added. 

‘Anything along the lines of ‘it will be ok’ or ‘you’ll be fine’ in reference to something stressful. It feels like it’s being brushed off,’ commented another.  

Other answers included ‘we need to talk’, ‘my period is late’ and ‘If you can’t handle me at my worst, you don’t deserve me at my best’.    

‘If he wanted to he would!’ No, you’re beautiful and I’m intimidated by you,’ one chap explained.         

”Awww’ ‘You’re so cute’ (but not in the physically attractive sense) Those two used to drive me crazy when I was younger lol. So condescending,’ a second added.

‘I just think it’s funny…’ It’s never funny,’ a third responded.
