Mexican star singer and actress Daniela Castro is arrested for shoplifting from Saks Off 5th

A Mexican telenovela star was arrested after she was arrested for allegedly shoplifting at a department store in Texas.

Danielle Stefani Arellano, who is also known as Daniela Castro in the Latin acting industry, stuffed a couple of items inside her handbag during her Friday trip to a Saks Off 5th store at a shopping center in San Antonio.

According to a police report, a loss prevention employee saw the famous Mexican actress and singer removed a number of marked down designer items off their hanger and placed them into her purse.

The merchandise was valued between $100 to $750.

However, the 52-year-old actress, never made an attempt to pay for the items while she was exchanging previously purchased merchandise at the cash register.    

The Saks Off 5th security officer then confronted Arellano, who was accompanied by her husband Gustavo Díaz Ordaz Borja, son of former Mexican president Gustavo Díaz Ordaz Bolaños [1964-1970], and led her to the shopping center’s loss prevention office. 

Police officers were able to confiscate three pairs of pants, wovens, a sweater, a skirt and sportswear, all which were returned to Saks Off 5th.

Arellano was arrested and booked on a theft charge. Court records revealed she was released later Friday.

Her last television appearance came when she starred and played the villain role of Roberta in the Spanish-language soap opera ‘Me Declaro Culpable’ [‘I Declare Myself Guilty’], which first aired from November 2017 to January 2018.

In 2015, top Mexican soap opera magazine TVyNovelas recognized Arellano with the award for best female antagonist for the role she played as Graciela in ‘Lo que la vida me robó’ [‘What life stole from me’].

The publication also awarded her with best lead actress for her role in ‘Canaveral de Pasiones’ [‘Canaveral Passions’] in 1997.

Arellano has also recorded two albums, ‘Desecuentro’ [‘Disagreement’] in 1998 and ‘Junto A Ti’ [‘Next To You ‘] in 1999.
