Miami safety Kamren Kinchens is rushed to a trauma center after tackle on Texas A&M wide receiver left him motionless in frightening scene

Kamren Kinchens, a junior football player for the University of Miami, appeared to have suffered a serious injury at the end of the Hurricanes’ win over Texas A&M on Saturday in South Florida.

The All-American safety was attempting to make a tackle on the play in the fourth quarter, but was left nearly motionless on the turf after colliding with Aggies receiver Ainias Smith.

Kinchens has been rushed to the Ryder Trauma Center in Miami, according to the school.

The Hurricanes would go on two win, 48-33, to improve to 2-0, while the Aggies fall to 1-1 on the year.

Miami head coach Mario Cristobal said early reports were that things are ‘relatively normal’ with Kinchens. Cristobal said he was headed to the hospital following his postgame news conference but thinks Kinchens will be OK.

‘It’s as hard as it gets. You’ve got parents in the stands,’ Cristobal said. ‘Very hopeful. I don’t like to get ahead of myself, but I’d like to think that everything is trending in the right direction.’

Cristobal added that will go visit Kinchens once he gets a chance to leave Hard Rock Stadium.

Medical personnel tended to Kinchens as players from both teams took a knee with 1:33 left in Saturday’s game.

After working on Kinchens for several minutes, the medical staff loaded him onto a stretcher and carted him off the field. He was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The crowd, which was electric as Miami mounted a comeback after falling into an early 10-point hole, fell silent.

A few of Kinchens’ teammates gathered in a circle in a prayer.

‘We love you, 5,’ shared Miami Hurricanes’ football account on X, formerly known as Twitter, after Saturday’s home win.

Kinchens had a big game up to that point with an interception of Aggies quarterback Conner Weigman in the third quarter.

He was an All-American last year and a preseason All-American this year.
