A new tell-all documentary charting the final hours of legendary INXS frontman Michael Hutchence will feature the last lyrics the singer ever wrote.
Michael Hutchence – The Last Rockstar is a Seven Network in-house production created over a two-year investigation into Hutchence’s life.
A promo for the anticipated documentary shows a piece of paper with Michael’s handwriting scrawled across it, which was discovered in a bank vault.

The lyrics read: ‘look at the mess your [sic] making. Look at the mess across your face. All the bitterness has started showing.
‘Five years no one hears. Just another heart to scared to…,’ while the last word is obscured in the trailer, it appeared to read ‘beat.’
In a statement, producer Mark Llewellyn revealed that the documentary – Michael Hutchence: The Last Rockstar – would be markedly different to the 2014 biopic Never Tear Us Apart.

‘This is not a biopic treading over old territory – this will make headlines around the world,’ he said.
Mark added: ‘this is not Michael Hutchence defined by how he died but how he lived: a brilliant musician, a brilliant man, a loving father, a true rock star.’
The statement claimed that the documentary takes an in-depth look at Michael’s possessions that were kept hidden in bank vaults, including his diary, and the final lyrics.
The trailer also teases that Michael’s missing songs would be heard for the first time as well as personal family videos and photographs that give insight to the man behind the microphone.

The documentary also looks to some of Michael’s friends for insight with U2 frontman Bono featuring in the trailer.
‘He was amazing and interesting and then tragic,’ the Irish rocker revealed. ‘We’re all realising just how great a singer we lost as well as a friend.’
The publication also reported that producing the documentary took two years and was shot in five countries. It is expected to air before the 20th anniversary of Michael’s death in November

It was also reported that Mark was given ‘unprecedented’ access to Michael’s estate for the project that makes use of ‘diaries, instruments and prized possessions’ owned by Michael.
Michael was found dead at age 37 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Sydney’s Double Bay in November 1997.
His band, INXS were in the middle of a world tour at the time and were due to complete the final leg in Australia throughout November and December of that year.

INXS were one of the first Australian bands to experience global super stardom with the band selling 15 million albums in the United States alone.
The forthcoming documentary will be the first of two about Michael with a second currently being produced by Universal Music Group with the blessing of INXS manager Chris Murphy.
Richard Lowenstein who directed sixteen music videos for the band as well as the 1986 film Dogs in Space which starred Michael, will helm the project.
