Michael Nader is dead at age 76: The TV actor best known for his role as Joan Collins’ boyfriend Dex on Dynasty passes away from cancer

Michael Nader has died at the age of 76 after a long battle with cancer, his wife Jodi Lister shared on Wednesday.

The actor was best known for playing Dex Dexter, the boyfriend of Joan Collins’ character, Alexis Carrington, on the hit Eighties TV show Dynasty.

And Nader was also known for starring as Susan Lucci’s husband Dimitri Marick on the soap opera All My Children.

He passed away inside his home in Northern California, it was added by TVLine. 

The cause of death was cancer, which was not curable. 

‘With heavy heart, I’m sharing the news of the passing of my beloved, Michael,’ Nader’s wife said in a statement shared to MichaelFairmanTV.com.

‘We had 18 wonderful years together with the many dogs we fostered and adopted. 

‘Recently, Michael was so thrilled to reconnect with his friends from the cast of Dynasty during Emma Samms’ virtual event to help raise funds for long-COVID research. 

‘He was a beautiful and fascinating man with many talents and skills. I will miss him forever,’ she continued.

The actor was born in Missouri and moved to Los Angeles in his twenties.

He popped up on the shows Gidget and Flash. 

In 1983 he joined the cast of Dynasty. He played the dark-haired hunk who caught the eye of Alexis.

He refused to be her boy toy and wanted a more serious relationship, but she resisted.

Nader – the nephew of actor George Nader. – won a big fan following for playing Dex.

Next he joined All My Children in 1991. He played Lucci’s handsome husband named Marick. He left the series in 1999 then came back the next year.

He then landed guest starring roles on hit shows like Law & Order: SVU and Magnum, P.I.

The star was also known for having issues with drugs.

In the Eighties he got sober but in 1997 he was charged with drunk driving.

He was arrested for attempting to sell cocaine to an undercover police officer in 2001, The Post reported.

He is survived by his wife and daughter Lindsay Michelle.
