Michael Rowland reveals disgruntled viewer’s VERY personal attack against him in wild complaint

Michael Rowland has revealed a disgruntled viewer made a very personal attack against him in a bizarre complaint.

The ABC News Breakfast host, 56, took to Instagram on Friday to share the details of the wild complaint, in which one viewer took issue with his appearance.

In the complaint, sent via email to the ABC News team, the viewer hilariously moaned about Rowland’s ‘distracting’ hair, claiming it looked ‘fake’.

They penned: ‘Michael Rowland’s hair looks so fake it distracts from the news. It doesn’t look natural. The colour is so wrong.’

Luckily, Rowland saw the funny side of the wild complaint and took to Instagram to poke fun at the message.

‘Viewer feedback of the week, if not the year. For the record, my hair is all natural. Thanks for watching, Russell,’ he said.

His followers were quick to take to the comments to share their amusing reactions, with one suggesting he next appear on air with bleached blonde hair to further enrage the viewer.

His former ABC co-star Tony Armstrong took aim at Rowland as he jokingly commented: ‘Finally we can talk about the hair COLOURING!’

While one fan wrote: ‘That’s the feedback of the century. All feedback is good feedback. That’s beyond gold.’

Another said: ‘Is this considered constructive criticism? I think it looks good!’

A third commented: ‘Oh my gosh hahaha imagine being so bothered by the hair of someone you don’t know.’

And another quipped: ‘Please come in next week with it bleached blonde. Maybe Russell will like that better.’

Rowland recently returned to ABC’s Melbourne studios after reporting live from the US amid the Presidential election.

Amid the busy time, Rowland recently hinted at a move away from ABC News Breakfast, revealing the ‘intense’ role has taken a mental toll.

Speaking with his former ABC News Breakfast co-host Virginia Trioli on her podcast You Don’t Know Me in September, Michael revealed that he was looking for a ‘less intense’ role.

‘I’m getting older, the ripe old age of 55 this year,’ he said.

‘The toll it takes gets more pronounced every year – the hours, the horrible stories we have to cover as journalists presenting a news program.’

‘I find it is taking more of a toll on me, personally, on my family life, and I’m looking forward to something less intense,’ he added.

He admitted he hadn’t commenced any formal talks with ABC management about an exit strategy from the show he ‘loves’, but added that he felt he was ‘closer to the end than the beginning’.
