Michelle Obama sweet post thanking Barack birthday flowers

Michelle Obama is calling her 54th birthday ‘bittersweet’ but the former first lady received plenty of the sweet part with a help from her love, former President Barack Obama.

Michelle shared a snap of beautiful flowers and a note from Barack on her birthday on Wednesday. She thanked him, while captioning it ‘You’re my best friend, biggest fan, and getting notes and flowers from you will never get old.’

It seemed like the president had some competition from her adoring fans on her special day as she added a thank you ‘to the many people from around the country who sent cards and posted on social media, you have no idea how much we love hearing from you.’

‘I know birthdays can sometimes be bittersweet (54!), but your messages of hope, generosity, and warmth have always reminded me how lucky and blessed we are.’

Barack also made sure to wish his wife a happy birthday on social media, sharing a gorgeous throwback snap of him looking at her with adoration.

The former president and his wife’s relationship have often been considered ‘relationship goals’ and with his birthday wishes for his wife, you can see why.

Barack captioned the shot saying ‘You’re not only my wife and the mother of my children, you’re my best friend. I love your strength, your grace, and your determination. And I love you more each day. Happy Birthday.’

People in the comment section for the former president’s post pointed out the unquestionably loving look Barack is giving Michelle.

One shared: ‘Take note how he looks at her.’ While another person commented on the Instagram shot ‘No caption necessary. He says all of that with the way he looks at her. Happy birthday, Michelle!’

Michelle and Barack have been enjoying their time as private citizens, however we will see more of Barack in 2018 as we near the mid-term elections.

‘He’s keenly aware that injecting himself into day-to-day politics can make it more difficult for other Democratic voices to rise to prominence,’ said Katie Hill, a spokeswoman for the former president to Politico.

‘You can expect him to continue weighing in strategically and staying above the fray while helping cultivate the next generation of Democratic leadership.’
