Michigan State offensive lineman Spencer Brown has been slammed online by fans for driving his helmet into the back of a rival player’s head in the crushing 49-0 loss to Michigan over the weekend, as many now await a suspension.

Brown – a fifth-year senior on the Spartans – was eventually ejected from Saturday’s game for unsportsmanlike conduct, after hitting Braiden McGregor – a defensive end for the Wolverines.

At the start of the second-half play, both players grappled by the line of scrimmage, when MSU quarterback Katin Houser was intercepted by Mike Sainristil for a pick-6.

But while Michigan’s defensive back was heading to the end zone, Brown suddenly tackled his opponent to the ground before deciding to throw himself helmet first in the back of McGregor’s head, while he was laying flat.

The move was eventually caught on by the referees.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan said in reaction to the highlight: ‘Hey can someone ask MSU when they’ll announce Spencer Brown’s suspension?

‘I’m chagrined at their silence so far.’

Another fan chimed in: ‘That’s blatant assault.’

A different individual also described the play as ‘dirty’ and ‘inexcusable’ from Brown.

‘Disgusting,’ he added.

Earlier in the game, a showing of Adolf Hitler on the stadium’s jumbotron was on full display as part of a quiz for fans attending.

The Spartans later shared that they suspended the staffer who allowed Hitler’s image to be on the screen.
