Mick Hawi’s widow prays for slain husband ahead of funeral

The grieving widow of slain ex-Comancheros bikie boss has prayed for God to grant the ‘love of her life’ entry into the ‘highest levels of heaven’.

Friends and family will gather to pray for Mick Hawi at a Sydney mosque before he is taken to be buried at Rookwood cemetry on Thursday afternoon.

‘Only I, his close friends and family know how truly beautiful his heart was,’ the convicted killer’s wife, Carolina Gonzalez, posted to Facebook on Monday.

Hawi, 37, was shot dead out the front of Rockdale’s Fitness First gym last Thursday by a masked killer who fled with a masked getaway driver.

The two masked men remain on the run.

Hundreds of people were seen at a Hawi family home for Islamic services throughout the week, many being comforted by others.

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, Mahmoud ‘Mick’ Hawi moved to Australia with his family when he was a young boy in 1985.

Hawi made headlines after getting involved in a bikie brawl at Sydney Airport in 2009 while he was the national president of the Comancheros.

Passengers in the terminal watched on in fear as the club clashed with rival Hells Angels members. Associate Anthony Zervas was bludgeoned to death with a bollard.

Hawi was succeeded as the Comanchero national president after being arrested for his role in a fatal brawl.

The former Punchbowl High School student and married father-of-two was found guilty of murder over the killing but the conviction was later overturned.

Since his release from prison in 2015, Hawi has kept a low profile in south Sydney.

His surban lifestyle came to an end after being showered with bullets as he sat in his luxury Mercedes 4WD where he died in hospital hours later.
