As Chicago White Sox star Mike Tauchman rounded third base, primed to score the game-tying run on Wednesday night, he injured himself and was easily thrown out at home plate.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the ninth inning, Tauchman was on second base as Miguel Vargas singled.

As Tauchman rounded third base, he pulled up slowly grabbing his leg and was tagged out to end the game ways away from scoring.

The White Sox said Tauchman experienced tightness in his right hamstring and is being ‘further evaluated’. Fans online expect him to be sent to the injured list.

Tauchman being injured would only add to the problems for one of the worst teams in baseball, as Chicago fell to 2-9 with the loss to Cleveland.

The White Sox were not expected to be competitive this year, coming off the worst regular season in MLB history.

Yet, Tauchman’s injury was a set back at a time when Chicago had a tiny bit of momentum. That seemingly has now gone away.

Before the game, the White Sox placed fellow outfielder Andrew Benintendi on the 10-day injured list.

Tauchman made his Major League Baseball debut in 2017 with Colorado and has been bouncing around teams since.

Tauchman, 34, previously played for the Rockies, Yankees, Giants and Cubs.

The White Sox have yet to confirm if or how much time Tauchman will miss after not scoring the game-tying run.
