Mike Tirico reveals he suffered a major injury during NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ broadcast

Mike Tirico called the Philadelphia Eagles win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday Night Football less than a week after tearing Achilles.

Tirico revealed the injury during the broadcast and suffered the ailment while missing a step at his home last Monday.

Fellow NBC commentator Chris Collinsworth joked with Tirico about his injury live on air, with the broadcast showing a unique camera angle pointed at the 57-year-old’s left leg to show him sitting down.

Tirico said he will not take any time off from calling games because of the injury.

‘Once you tear your Achilles it is pain right away and then it is awkward getting around for awhile. Our group was amazing trying to set up the booth so it was as comfortable as possible,’ Tirico said on-air.

Oddly, the injury was brought up by Collinsworth after NBC aired a promo for a medical drama.

Tirico was later seen using a knee scooter after leaving the booth and as he was going to the elevator.

Tirico’s next assignment is on Thanksgiving Day from Green Bay, as the Packers host the Miami Dolphins in the holiday nightcap.

More to come.
