Mikel Arteta hits out at ‘FAKE NEWS’ after out-of-the-blue reports in Spain claim the Arsenal boss is ready to quit the club this summer… as he urges: ‘I’m in the right place’

Mikel Arteta has reaffirmed his commitment to Arsenal and hit back at sensational reports in Spain that claimed the Gunners boss could leave the club at the end of the season.

An out-of-the-blue report had claimed that the 41-year-old told those close to him that he was considering a move away from the north London club.

But the Gunners manager has now had his say on those reports and flatly denied the surprising claims, adding that they had also left him feeling very upset.

‘No. That’s totally fake news,’ the 41-year-old said when asked on the reports. ‘What you read yesterday, I don’t know where it’s coming from it’s totally untrue. I’m really upset about it.

‘I could not believe it. I don’t know where it’s coming from. I think we have to be very cautious when you talk about personal things especially when it was put in the way that it was yesterday.

He added: ‘I’m in the right place. I’m with the right people and I feel really good about it. As we’ve said many times, I’m embracing a beautiful journey with this football club.’

On Sunday night, sources close to Arsenal had also adamantly denied there was any truth to the rumours.

Speaking on why he was angry at the shock reports, he added: ‘One is a consequence of the other. First of all I’m really cautious when I talk publicly about my personal things.

‘When someone puts a statement about what we’ve done personally. Secondly because I don’t think someone deserves to hear news like that. I’ve always said completely the opposite. That’s why I feel upset.’
