Miley Cyrus might rock in the New Year with NBC.
The We Can’t Stop singer, 28, is in talks to host a Lorne Michaels-produced special but details of the event are still being pinned down, according to Vulture.
If she ends up leading NBC’s New Years Eve gig, it would end The Voice host Carson Daly’s nearly 17-year run as host.

Insiders say Miley’s New Year celebration is being pitched as a ‘multi-hour, multi-city event with musical performances from numerous artist,’ including Cyrus herself.
Though some floated the idea of Cyrus ringing in 2022 in Miami instead of a traditional Times Square moment, another insider told Vulture nothing has been finalized.
SNL head honcho Michaels will serve as executive producer, but is not expected to handing the night-of showrunning duties like he does on the longstanding sketch show.
NBC’s plans to Party In the USA signal a significant shift in their NYE programming.
Carson Daly has hosted the Peacock’s celebrations every year since 2004, save for a break in 2017.

NBC’s retooling of NYE looks like a move to compete with ABC’s December 31st flagship Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest.
The special ranked as the top entertainment show out of all of last year’s TV, drawing in double the viewers as its runner up: the Oscars.
As the genre’s reigning champ, ABC’s New Years show is typically packed with hot talent.
Last year’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve featured performances by headliners Jimmie Allen, Cyndi Lauper and Billy Porter, Machine Gun Kelly, and Jennifer Lopez as well as sets from Nelly, Brandy Norwood, Lewis Capaldi, En Vogue, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Ella Mai, Maluma, Saweetie, and Miley herself.

NBC is likely hoping Cyrus and Michaels will help their network attract their own share of high-profile talent for their end-of-the-year bonanza.
This year could also signal a shift in the network’s streaming strategy.
NBC and local affiliates recently negotiated their terms to let some content stream in simulcast with traditional broadcast coverage.
The first four episodes of SNL are set to stream live on Peacock, starting with this weekend’s episode hosted by Owen Wilson.
