Miley Cyrus shares her New Year’s resolution ahead of NYE party

She will lead the midnight countdown with co-host Dolly Parton during Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party on NBC this coming Saturday.

But ahead of the festivities, Miley Cyrus shared her big resolution for 2023 with Today’s Hoda Kotb, as obtained by PEOPLE.

‘I guess my resolution would really be — my instinct is very loud, but I’m not a great listener sometimes,’ admitted the 30-year-old hitmaker.

She was inspired by a quote used by Dolly’s longtime husband Carl Thomas Dean.

‘Dolly was telling me, her husband says, “You’re not hard of hearing. You’re hard of listening.”‘

‘And I guess that would kind of be my resolution, to not just listen to myself, but listen to others,’ Miley explained.

Miley – who rose to superstardom as a teen on Disney’s hit TV series Hannah Montana before coming into her own as a multi-platinum recording artist – turned 30 this past November.

Hoda wondered if hitting the milestone has made Miley feel any different.

‘I always say that my truth, and the opposite of what that is is also true. Somehow I’m completely different, and then somehow I’m exactly the same,’ she explained.

‘Now, in my 30s — I mean, my 20s were so much fun. If you don’t believe me, I think you can google it…’ joked the Malibu singer, who lived under an intense microscope throughout her young adult years.

She made headlines in 2013 when she ditched the squeaky clean Disney image to release the party anthem We Can’t Stop. It appeared on her fourth studio album Bangerz, along with the breakup ballad Wrecking Ball.

To promote the album, Miley delivered a now infamous performance at the 2013 MTV VMAs where she danced on singer Robin Thicke in a barely-there nude vinyl bodysuit.

Since then, Miley has explored a variety of personas and has even dipped her toes in folk, pop, country and rock music.

She recently teased the start of a new era, two years after the release of her record, Plastic Hearts, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums.

While the pop icon has yet to confirm whether she will be releasing a few new tracks or an entire album, her latest Instagram post alluded to an exciting project in the imminent future.

‘NEW YEAR, NEW MILEY,’ the Wrecking Ball hitmaker captioned a video of a billboard with the same phrase on it.

Miley’s New Year’s Party first aired on NBC last year, and due to the show’s quick popularity, the Malibu singer will be taking the stage once again to help say a final farewell to 2022. 

Along with hosting, the hitmaker will deliver a variety of show-stopping performances with a slew of special musical guests, including the likes of FLETCHER and Sia.

According to Deadline, Miley is not only hosting the event, but has also taken on the role of an executive producer.
