Millie Mackintosh poses in underwear as she details her post-baby fitness journey

Millie Mackintosh has detailed the ups and downs of her ‘post-partum body journey’ while posing in underwear.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 32, snapped a candid selfie as she showcased her figure in a grey bra and matching pants in a frank post on Instagram on Monday, while admitting getting back to her pre-baby fitness can be a ‘frustrating’ process.

The mother-of-two – who welcomed daughter Aurelia into the world in late November – explained she is hoping to get back to her ‘pre-pregnancy size’ and while she is ‘in awe’ of all her body has achieved, she can ‘fall into a trap of comparison’.

‘I’m frustrated things don’t look how I want them to’: Millie Mackintosh posed in underwear as she detailed her post-baby ‘body journey’ in a candid Instagram post on Monday

Millie explained she gained ‘more weight than [she] thought she would’ during her first pregnancy with eldest daughter Sienna, 21 months, and ‘had to work hard for the best part of a year’ to get back to her original size.

Second time around, the former TV star explained she ‘stayed active’ and was ‘more mindful’ of what she ate, meaning she ‘didn’t feel like a stranger in [her] body’ when she left hospital with baby Aurelia.

Millie wrote: ‘I’ve been asked about my post-partum body journey and what I’ve done differently this time so I wanted to share a little.

‘This is how I feel about my own body, I would like to get back to my pre-pregnancy size, you may not, either way, our journeys will be different just like our pregnancies were and I’m not suggesting that anyone else needs to in order to feel good.

‘During my pregnancy with Sienna I gained more weight than I thought I would and it didn’t fall off after she was born, I had to work hard for the best part of a year to get back to my original size – the day I got on the scale and recognised the number, I found out I was pregnant again!

‘I was much more conscious of this during my pregnancy with Aurelia, but we also weren’t in lockdown and I had a toddler, so I was much busier.

‘I stayed active and was more mindful about what I was eating, I indulged my cravings but it was more about the balance.

‘This time when I left hospital, I didn’t feel like a stranger in my body. My bump went down quicker and I felt more relaxed.’

Millie said indulging over the festive period left her ‘a little downhearted’ when she ‘wasn’t any closer’ to getting into her favourite jeans – but she made sure to remind herself of the ‘incredible journey’ her body has been on.

She added: ‘People say breastfeeding helps them lose weight, but for me I find the opposite! This paired with indulging over Christmas, left me feeling a little downhearted that I wasn’t any closer to getting into my favourite jeans.

‘I quickly had a word with myself, I just gave birth, my body has been on this incredible journey but it can be easy to fall into a trap of comparison.

‘I feel in awe of my body, I appreciate it more after watching it create and nourish my two beautiful girls, but some days I look in the mirror and I’m frustrated that things don’t look how I want them to.

‘I’m only human and it’s totally normal to feel this way after your body changes beyond your control!’

The fashionista told her followers she has now started exercising again in a bid to ‘feel fit and healthy, mentally and physically so I can be the best mum possible’ to Sienna and Aurelia.

She concluded: ‘Now I’m focused on what makes me feel good, I’ve started exercising again, there is nothing like the endorphins I get after!

‘I’m aiming to do pilates weekly to strengthen my core, then a mix of cardio and weights twice per week, but in reality I have 2 young children so some days a walk to the park is all I manage, other days I don’t leave the house, and that’s ok too.

‘My goals are to feel fit and healthy, mentally and physically so I can be the best mum possible.’

Millie and her husband, former Made In Chelsea co-star Hugo Taylor, 35, welcomed second daughter Aurelia Violet into the world in late November.

The couple tied the knot in June 2018 at Hugo’s uncle’s country estate, Whithurst Park in West Sussex, one year after he proposed during a holiday to the Greek island of Mykonos.

Millie and Hugo welcomed first daughter Sienna into the world in May 2020.

The pair briefly dated during their Made In Chelsea days back in 2011 and reunited in May 2016 shortly after Millie’s split from her first husband, rapper Professor Green, 36.

Millie was married to the musician, real name Stephen Manderson, for two-and-a-half years before they announced their split in February 2016.
