Minnehaha Falls, Katoomba: Man falls to his death at famous Instagram spot in the Blue Mountains

A man has fallen to his death at a popular waterfall.

He was with a group of friends at the Minnehaha Falls in Katoomba, in Sydney’s Blue Mountains, about 1.30pm on Monday, when the tragedy unfolded.

Police officers from Blue Mountains Police Area Command, Police Rescue and

paramedics rushed to the scene and found the man with serious injuries.

He was unable to be saved and died at the scene.

Initially a helicopter had been called to the location but was cancelled after the patient could not be saved.

The victim has not been formally identified.

Inquiries into the incident are ongoing, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Minnehaha Falls are just over 100km west of Sydney and has been labelled a ‘must-visit’ for tourists to visit due to its views and ‘impressive’ swimming hole.

The tourist hot-spot can only be accessed by a walking track 20 minutes from the carpark.

It is understood parking spots are hard to obtain during summer.
