Police in Missouri overnight shot dead a man outside of a Kansas City home where they also found the bodies of two women.
Officers responding to a call about shots fired at the home in the 7900 block of East 48th Street at about 2.30am on Monday discovered a dead woman outside.
A male suspect then emerged from the house and fired at the officers, who returned fire and killed him, according to a press release.

One woman was found dead outside and a second was found dead inside the residence
Police say the officers then noticed smoke coming from the residence and firefighters were called to the scene, reported Kansas City Star.
Once the flames have been put out, police officers entered the house and found another woman’s body inside.
The names of the two women and the man have not been released as of Monday afternoon.
Police spokesman Lionel Colon said in an email that investigators don’t know of a possible motive yet.
‘KCPD is saddened for the lives lost,’ Colon told Fox 4 KC.
‘Yet, we are thankful the active shooter situation was contained and brought to a conclusion.’
