He confessed to only signing up to the show to support his girlfriend Ash, who has long dreamed of competing.
And in the second episode of My Kitchen Rules, Matty may have proved himself to be one of the most clueless competitors competitors ever when he fails to recognise basic dishes.
Fellow competitor Rachael also seemed to lack knowledge in other areas, admitting the names of famous musicians David Bowie and The Beatles didn’t ring a bell.

Matty’s lack of expertise was quickly made apparent when the teams began to read Alex and Emily’s menu for the night.
Upon seeing Pedro Ximenez chicken liver pâté with homemade bread slated for the entree, Matty admitted: ‘Here’s another thing on the menu I’ve never had.’
Judges Pete Evans and Manu Feildel’s faces dropped at the confession, while Matty continued: ‘Something different for me, broadening my horizons…’

And Matty wasn’t in the same ball park when it came to guessing what type of food pâté is, which became apparent when he told producers what he’s expecting to eat.
‘So I’m thinking some sort of like a crispy sort of patty thing…’ he said.
When the liver-based dish arrived, Matty could hide his surprise, remarking: ‘Where’s the patty? Am I supposed to make it into a patty? It’s like chocolate mousse.’
Later, Matty also confessed he’d never tried bisque, prompting rival Jazzy to exclaim: ‘he is clueless!’

But there also seemed a hole in the knowledge of another My Kitchen Rules contestant during the episode.
After older gentlemen Stuss and Steve suggested a dinner party singalong with tunes from the likes of The Beatles and David Bowie, 20-year-old Rachael was left puzzled.
‘Is it just me or does everyone not know what the hell they’re talking about?’ a confused Rachael questioned.
