Rising French MMA star Cedric Doumbe was left disgusted after he was handed his first professional defeat in the most bizarre of circumstances.

The former world kickboxing champion made the switch to MMA in 2021 and has amassed huge support with five knockout wins in his first five fights.

Doumbe’s PFL debut in Paris in September was a sight to behold and the pumped up crowd in the French capital were hoping for the same on Thursday night.

However, the evening ended in disaster as his fight with Baysangur ‘Baki’ Chamsoudinov came to an abrupt end in the third round.

Doumbe signaled to referee Marc Goddard that there was something wrong with his toe, later revealing that there was small piece of glass stuck in it.

The Frenchman was told to carry on fighting but continued to complain, causing Goddard to step in and call and TKO.

Doumbe looked utterly shocked as he protested to Goddard while the crowd made their feelings abundantly clear.

The kickboxing legend said after the bout: ‘I’m disgusted. I didn’t want this. Make some noise for Baki. This isn’t his fault. It’s the ref’s fault.

‘I feel like there is a piece of glass or wood in my foot. I told the ref. I told Baki. Baki said so get it out. And then the ref stopped it.

‘I never asked to stop the fight. Of course, I want to do this again.’

Former Liverpool and France stars Djibril Cisse and Mamadou Sakho were in attendance to support Doumbe and looked equally as shocked as the rest of the crowd by the events that unfolded.
