Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side looked upbeat in training ahead of their clash with PSG on Tuesday night.

The Reds have made the perfect start to the Premier League season with five wins out of five and the mood appeared to be predictably high at Melwood.

Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Klopp all wore broad grins as the players stretched off and went on a jog.

The players were decked out in their maroon training tops on an overcast afternoon on Merseyside with a number of them choosing to wear leggings or tracksuit bottoms.

Clearly Klopp was holding back from anything too strenuous for the squad on the eve of a massive game.

One man missing from the session was Roberto Firmino, who is still recovering from the nasty eye-poke he sustained in Saturday’s 2-1 win over Tottenham.

In his pre-match press conference Klopp said: ‘He couldn’t play today, no chance, but we all hope there is a chance tomorrow [Tuesday]. That is good news it will be close.’

The German also backed PSG striker Neymar, who has been widely criticised for his theatrical reactions to challenges.

‘For me that is a completely normal reaction because players were really going for him and he wants to protect himself and I understand that as well. If an opponent gets a yellow card then he is much closer to a red card so I see if from that perspective.

‘I thought it is smart that he saves himself.’

Despite the huge threat posed by Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Co, the Reds are hugely confident they can challenge on all fronts this season.

‘Of course we can make the final again,’ Mo Salah said in an interview with France Football magazine. ‘I am sure we can win the tournament. I think we can win both, Champions League and the Premier League. I don’t want to put pressure on, but everything is possible.’
