Weeks ahead of its November 27 release, Moana 2 is predicted to thrive at the box office.
Per Deadline, AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron said on a quarterly earnings call, ‘Some people in the know are telling me that Moana 2 could eclipse and outshine even the success of Inside Out 2.’
It comes after previous reports that the Moana sequel’s first-day ticket pre-orders surpassed the year’s record for animated movies, trailing Deadpool & Wolverine, Wicked, and Dune: Part 2.
The forthcoming film is expected to rake in more than $100 million Thanksgiving weekend’s Wednesday through Sunday stretch.
So far, Inside Out 2 is the highest-grossing film of 2024, with over $1.6 billion in global sales.

In early October Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson took to Instagram to tease the Moana follow-up.
Posting to his 395 million followers, the 52-year-old entertainer shared the latest movie posted and trailer.
In a joint post with Disney, one caption read: ‘Go on an epic adventure with #Moana2, only in theaters November 27!’
Another post said, ‘Can I get a chee hoo!! You feel the mana, as MOANA2 is almost here. Here’s a special look at the incredible journey on and in the ocean that you’re going to take with us.
‘THANK YOU for all of the excitement around the world for #Moana2. It’s almost time to set sail.’
He signed off, ‘See you in theaters November 27th ~ Maui, out.’
The upcoming second Moana film was announced this past February, with 23-year-old actress Auli’i Cravalho in talks to return as the beloved title character alongside Johnson’s Maui.
Then, in August it was confirmed that they both would reprise their roles.

The sequel takes place three years after the 2016 original, with Moana ‘on an expansive journey in search of people beyond the shores of Motunui,’ according to a synopsis.
‘Joined by Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced,’ the summary continued.
The cast also features Rachel House (Moana’s Grandma Tala), Temuera Morrison (Moana’s father Chief Tui) and Nicole Scherzinger (Moana’s mother Sina), plus Hualālai Chung, David Fane and Rose Matafeo, Awhimai Fraser, Gerald Ramsey and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda as Moana’s little sister Simea.
Moana 2 was directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand and Dana Ledoux Miller.
