He’s suffered a number of health setbacks since his 2011 fall.

But Molly Meldrum still knows how to have a good time, as the veteran music identity was in high spirits at the Australian Open on Thursday night.

The 74-year-old posed for the photographers enthusiastically after arriving at the tennis in a wheelchair.

The former Countdown host was in high spirits as he arrived at Rod Laver Arena in a wheelchair, pushed by a male staff member.

Molly left the chair behind as he posed for pictures on the photo wall, wearing his signature hat with a black top and chinos.

He offered an enthusiastic thumbs up as he beamed from ear to ear, later appearing to wield an invisible lasso as Molly played up for the cameras.

Molly’s appearance at the Australian Open comes as he called for a reboot of Countdown.

Speaking to News Corp earlier this month, the music expert said the time was right for the popular show to make a return.

‘I really think it’s time to bring back Countdown, but in a new format. There’s definitely an appetite for it,’ Molly said.

‘I’m already seeing a lot of people on my Facebook page saying they’d love to see Countdown back.’

However, he rejected calls for his return to a rebooted Countdown as host, calling for the role to go to someone new.

‘I’d love to work on it as a producer, help find some new talent, but it needs to be revamped with young presenters, not me,’ Molly said.

Molly has faced several health setbacks after a 2011 fall in his backyard left him with a fracture skull that took months to recover from.

In 2016 he suffered a second fall while on holiday in Thailand after slipping while exiting a taxi in Bangkok.
