Mom watches thieves in house on livestream security cam

A Pembroke Pines, Florida mother was out and about on Sunday when she got an alert on her phone that there had been a break-in at her home.

The woman has a security app on her phone that monitors movement in the house, and even allows her to keep an eye on things through security cameras set up around the home.

Her 13-year-old son was home alone at the time, so she figured it was probably just some friends he invited over.

But when she opened her phone to watch live stream footage from inside her house, she quickly realized that the visitors weren’t friendly.

Video of the break-in, which was released by local police, shows two burglars ransacking the home, rifling through drawers and looking through rooms.

At first, the mother said that she tried to call her son, but couldn’t get through. Later she learned that he had locked himself in an upstairs closet, and was on the phone with the police.

Cops were on the scene within minutes, but by then, the two suspects had fled in a silver four-door sedan.

While the suspects did break down the door to the master bedroom at one point, they never came in contact with the boy hiding in the closet.

He later spoke out to WSVN but asked that they not show his face.

He says he was at home when he heard a knock at the door around noon. He looked through the peephole but didn’t recognize the two men so he didn’t answer. The men then made their way to the back of the home where they broke in my smashing a sliding glass door.

‘I didn’t answer because they’re strangers,’ said the teen. ‘I looked through the peephole – there was one guy, he just ran back to his car, and then one minute later, I heard a loud bang in the back.’

The boy ran up to his parent’s room and locked himself in the closet while he called 911.

‘People just broke into my house. Please get help,’ the teen told the operator.

The teen says he remembers feeling like he was going to be killed.

It’s unclear what the two men stole from the house. They are described as black teens between the ages of 16 and 19, with a thin build and short dread-locked hairstyles. One was around 5-foot-4, while the other was a little taller at five-foot-seven.
