Dash cam footage has captured the moment a P-plater crashed into a 4WD in Sydney’s inner west on Monday.
In a video uploaded to Dash Cam Owners Australia, a Kia 4WD can be seen waiting to turn right at the corner of Bexley Road and William Street in Earlwood.
While the Kia has a green light to turn, the green arrow is not illuminated.
As the 4WD begins the turn from a standstill, the P-plater travelling towards the intersection slams on his brakes.

As the 4WD begins the turn from a standstill, the oncoming P-plater smashed into the rear of the vehicle
Both cars collide with a deafening screech of tires as the red P-plate driver smashes into the rear of the 4WD.
According to the man who uploaded the video, known as Utsav, there was a child in the backseat of the Kia.
‘There was a child in Kia and was so lucky that the other car actually hit the rear axle and it took all the impact,’ he wrote.
‘If it would have hit the rear door then it would have been a very serious injury to the child.’
As the 4WD spins out from the impact, the spare tire under the car flies out and narrowly misses hitting a Vespa rider in the head

Following the crash, Utsav can be seen exiting his own vehicle and checking on the P-plate driver who appeared to be in shock.
The driver of the Kia can be heard yelling at the P-plater, asking: ‘Why were you going so fast mate?’

Other drivers and pedestrians begin crowding around and tell the two men to calm down.
Social media comments have criticised the Kia for turning without enough time and praised Utsav’s actions for checking on both drivers.
‘How could you even think the P-plater was at fault? There was no green arrow. Other car turned when it wasn’t safe,’ one comment said.
Another wrote: ‘SUV asks “why you going so fast, mate?!” after he, himself guns it from a standstill 90 degrees.’
‘The guy with the dash cam. Legend. Went straight to driver, checked to make sure ok then looked like he isolated car,’ another said.
