  • Was captured on video as police threw him out of stadium

A footy fan has been caught on video as he was ejected from the Brisbane Broncos NRL preliminary final win over the New Zealand Warriors for wearing a jersey that stirred up a whole lot of trouble.

While the majority of supporters at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday night wore their Broncos or Warriors jersey to the match, the fan decided to wear a Crusaders top from rival code rugby union.

The jersey was always going to incite the parochial crowd and the man was quick to bite back, exchanging barbs with supporters from both sides.

The fan pointed at other supporters while yelling and pulling at the emblem on the Super Rugby team’s strip.

Before the situation could escalate to the point of violence, he was escorted from the ground by Queensland Police.

‘This is what happens when you wear the wrong shirt to the league,’ an attendee posted along with video of the incident.

‘Typical rugby union fan … you can’t be wearing that at a league game smh,’ replied one person on TikTok.

‘You’ve got to be a special kind of stupid to start a fight at a stadium these days,’ pointed out another.

‘Pays all that money just to carry on like a Fwit,’ added another.

The Crusaders are the most successful team in the history of Super Rugby with 12 titles between 1998 and 2023.

Some fans pointed out that when you have that level of success, you can wear what you want.

‘No one can beat 8 titles in a row from the Crusaders,’ one posted.

‘Everyone gets jealous when you wear the greatest sports team jersey in the southern hemisphere,’ added another.

‘Too many beers. To be fair least he was wearing a winning teams jersey,’ posted another.

To make matters worse for the confused fan, he was allegedly thrown off a train trying to get home later that night as well.

‘This is the same guy that got kicked out of the train on the way home,’ a follower posted. ‘Was funny as. Few punches thrown and the train had to stop.’

‘Man, I’m not surprised. He was going hard at a few supporters all night. The crowd had enough,’ replied another.

‘Bad night all around for this bloke,’ another added.

Queensland Police have been contacted for comment.
