A guard has delivered a disturbing warning to passengers on a train after a child had his finger taken off in a horror accident.

The warning was given over the train’s speaker system as it travelled through Sydney on Saturday.

Video of the announcement was recorded by a passenger and uploaded to YouTube.

‘A few months ago where a child had their finger completely taken off by his ring getting caught on the train,’ the guard said.

‘So please, in future, do not run your hands along the train as it is coming in to the platform.’

One viewer commented: ‘Luckily I don’t wear rings.’

‘Safety message for people rushing to the doors closing,’ wrote another.

Daily Mail Australia contacted Transport New South Wales for comment.

The warning comes just days after a train driver was allegedly ordered to drive over a dead body on the tracks while on route to the Central Coast, north of Sydney.

The train had come to a halt as police investigated a self-harming incident on the tracks.

Under these circumstances, passengers are usually ordered off the train before it is sent to a maintenance yard, The Daily Telegraph reported.

After police conducted their inspection, a replacement crew were told to move the train forward for removal of the body.
