Mona Vale crash: Multi vehicle smash on major Sydney road as motorists urged to avoid the area

A multi-car crash on a major road in Sydney’s Northern Beaches has left one dead. 

Emergency services were called to Pittwater Rd in Mona Vale about 2.15pm after reports two cars has collided.

One of the cars suffered significant damaged to its bonnet, with the other car ending up on its roof on the nature strip. 

Pittwater Rd has been closed northbound at Vineyard St. 

NSW Police said the male driver of one of the vehicles was trapped inside with critical injuries and despite the efforts of first responders was unable to be revived. 

The driver of the other car has been transported to hospital for assessment. 

Officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. 

Motorists are urged to avoid the area.

Anyone with information, who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage is asked to contact police.
