Monaco 3-0 PSG: Things go from bad to WORSE for Mauricio Pochettino as his star-studded league leaders are DOMINATED – with Wissam Ben-Yedder striking twice in rout
Pressure is continuing to intensify on Mauricio Pochettino at Paris Saint-Germain after his side were humiliated away at Monaco.
Monaco are battling against fan protests and poor form but were able to dominate PSG with Wissam Ben-Yedder striking twice in a 3-0 win.
PSG, on 65 points from 29 games, still lead Marseille and Nice by 15 points before those sides meet later on Sunday, following third straight away league defeat.
With Lionel Messi ruled out by a bout of flu, PSG showed close to nothing at the Louis II stadium 11 days after being knocked in the Champions League last-16 by Real Madrid, who scored three goals in 17 minutes.
The result lifted Monaco up to seventh on 44 points
PSG remain comfortable at the top of Ligue 1 but Pochettino is already under the microscope and this does little to ease the pressure on his shoulders.
‘We lost, we played against a great team that is playing for Europe,’ striker Kylian Mbappe told Amazon Prime Video afterwards. ‘They deserve victory today.
‘The objective is to seek the 10th French league title. The rest doesn’t matter.
‘We can win 8-0 or 9-0, and people will still think of the Champions League.
‘We must remain professional and respect each other. We must respect the supporters who support us. We are going to get this 10th title.’
More to follow.
