Money UK reveals cities home to the world’s ‘most beautiful people’

The cities that are home to the ‘most beautiful people’ on Earth have been revealed – and only one Australian destination made the list.

A study by mortgage comparison site Money UK looked at the birthplaces of more than 500 international beauty pageant winners to determine where most are born.

Taking the top spot as the home of 10 global pageant queens was Caracas, Venezuela, a country that has won more ‘Big Four’ titles – Miss World, Miss Universe, Miss International, and Miss Earth – than any other nation. 

In second place was Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, which has produced seven pageant winners, closely followed by Sydney and Turku – the oldest city in Finland – who tied in third with six winners each.

Tying in fifth place were the Filipino capital of Manila, Puerto Rico’s capital, San Juan, and a second Venezuelan city, Maracaibo, which all produced five pageant winners.

Rounding out the top 10 with four winners each were Barcelona, Johannesburg, the Brazilian cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and yet another Venezuelan location: Valencia. 

Famous for taking pageants seriously, Venezuela has produced seven Miss Universe winners, six Miss Worlds and seven Miss Internationals.

The country is home to world-famous beauties including Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza and Miss Venezuela 2000 Claudia Moreno.

Of the seven winners from Bangkok, four took titles in LGBT+ pageants.

Meanwhile in Sydney, perhaps the most famous of the six winners is Jessica Kahawaty, who has represented both Australia and Lebanon, her country of descent. 

Turku punches well above its weight with six winners, an exceptional achievement given its tiny population of just 200,000 residents.

The historic city is the birthplace of Finnish actress and Miss Finland 1974 Johanna Raunio, and Essi Unkuri who was crowned Miss Universe Finland 2021.
