Monopoly launches ‘longest ever version’ ahead of Christmas

Prepare for family arguments: Monopoly launches new ‘longest game ever’ just in time for Christmas

  • Iconic family game Monopoly has created their ‘longest ever’ version for $30
  • There are 66 properties included instead of the usual 28 and 40 spaces all up
  • The game comes with one die and the game isn’t over until someone wins all
  • Twitter users are at odds over whether the game is a good idea or not

Monopoly has released its ‘longest ever version’ of the iconic game with 66 properties, 40 spaces and a singular die involved.

The traditional form of the game with 28 properties – which arguably still takes a number of hours and family breakdowns to complete – has been trumped by this $30 product.

An advertisement for the new version read: ‘Think the original Monopoly game takes forever to play? It’s got nothing over this edition.’

‘Even bankruptcy won’t get a player out of this Monopoly game. The game doesn’t end until someone owns every single property – and there are three versions of each in this board game,’ it continued.

The latest version is available exclusively on Amazon so you’ll need to get it shipped before the silly season begins.

There has been a mixed reaction from fans online with some saying they couldn’t wait to try it and others wanting to steer clear.

‘A six hour game with my 12 year old niece is enough thanks! Even then if it’s not finished we add up everything we have to see who wins,’ said one woman.

‘I can’t play with people who get mad at a game. This would be fun, but I would probably take the day off work,’ said another.

A third added: ‘I have almost every other version so you know what I’ll be asking Santa for Christmas this year’.

According to professional players the original game shouldn’t take more than two hours if you follow all of the rules.

But most people learn from their parents or friends, who have never bothered to read through all of the instructions.
