A 14-year-old boy has been charged in connection with at least seven robberies in a one-hour crime spree in the capital.

The teenager, from Tottenham, had 13 mobile phones in his possession when he was arrested, Scotland Yard have said.

He is alleged to have been a pillion passenger on a moped during a string of muggings in north London.

At least seven robberies took place between 1.15pm and 2.15pm in Hornsey, Crouch End and Muswell Hill on June 7.

The boy was arrested in Middle Lane, north London, by officers in Haringey and taken into custody. The rider of the moped rode off.

Nine of the 13 phones found by officers have been returned to their owners.

The teenager will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court today charged with seven counts of robbery.
