Morning Joe hosts enjoy some on-air hand holding

Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough managed to make the leap from early morning to late night television last year when Saturday Night Live began parodying the engaged pair’s hot-and-cold relationship.

And while the variety show’s over-exaggerated imitation of the Morning Joe hosts has been a huge hit with viewers, Brzezinski and Scarborough proved on Tuesday morning that nothing compares to the real thing.

It all began when Scarborough made the mistake of affectionately holding Brzezinski’s hand, something that the two refuse to do despite the fact that their entire viewing audience is aware of their engagement.

From there it was just like an SNL skit, with the two drawing close and then pulling apart, laughing and then fighting, and trying their best not to blush, giggle and flirt as the show’s panel looked on in stunned silence.

The early morning love fest kicked off after Scarborough interrupted Brzezinski during a segment, and asked after they had wrapped up the discussion if she had anything to add.

It was while she was talking about Kamala Harris that Scarborough again interrupted her and then began to hold her hand.

‘I think you’re right,’ said Scarborough as he reached over to touch his fiancee.

‘Thank you,’ replied Brzezinski.

‘You’re always right, though,’ added Scarborough, who at this point was clearly holding his co-host’s hand for all to see.

That sent Brzezinski into a tailspin of emotions, as she first grimaced and then smiled before eventually giggling and looking around at the panel.

Scarborough meanwhile could not control his amusement, and turned bright red as he began hysterically laughing at the situation.

When Brzezinski then tried to turn the topic to Trump, Scarborough interjected: ‘Have you ever not been right, sweetie?’

Brzezinski responded by acknowledging the physical contact second prior and saying: ‘Oh, god, don’t do that. That’s a no.’

Scarborough, still in hysterics, stated: ‘We just crossed a line here.’

The two the spoke about how they realized nobody wants to see them acting affectionate because of their ages when Brzezinski added: ‘Nobody wants to know.’

Scarborough responded to that by saying: ‘What? That we’re engaged?’

Brzezinski appeared to be channeling Kate McKinnon at that very moment as she let out a shriek of disbelief while Scarborough continued: ‘You have a ring on. Do you think Noah [Rothman] gave you that ring? We’re engaged.’

The segment came to a close with Brzezinski continuing to voice her disbelief and smiling while Scarborough closed thing out by saying: ‘So we have just proven what we’ve always said. When people ask about us personally we’re like really old people.’

And for reasons that are unclear he also added: ‘You really have to act like Beyonce.’
