Morning Joe mocks ‘morons’ outraged over pre-taped show

Morning Joe hosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborogh welcomed viewers back from the Thanksgiving holiday by making fun of the ‘shocked’ and ‘saddened’ individuals who expressed outrage over the show’s decision to pre-tape their episode on Friday.

‘Do you believe these people?’ Scarborough could be heard saying to Brzezinski and the show’s panelists, with the host in mid-conversation as the program began on Monday.

‘Every time we do a Thanksgiving episode we tape it, and then we make fun of the fact that we’re taping it.’

Scarborough went on to reenact one of the moments that played out on air last Friday, saying: ‘”How was your dinner? Oh, I am stuffed,” and then Willie [Geist] will always go, “But, boy, that game last night.”‘

He then stated: ‘It’s very obvious. You would have to be extraordinarily…’

Brzezisnki cut him off at that point and said: ‘A moron. Maybe Trump was watching and – oh, my god, that’s it.’

The hosts, who could not contain their laughter throughout the opening segment, later informed viewers: ‘And we’re gonna do it again on Christmas.’

Disbelief: Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough (above) opened their MSNBC show on Monday by mocking the viewers who expressed outrage over their pre-taped show Friday

Joke's on them: The show has done this for the past 10 years explained Scarborough, with the group delivering clearly generic banter about the holiday

The Washington Post ran a story on Friday shortly after the episode aired saying that a viewer had reached out to the paper asking if the show was running ‘fake news’ on the day after Thanksgiving.

MSNBC did not expressly state that the program was pre-taped, but also did not run the on-screen ‘live’ decal.

Another big hint was the conversation between hosts Scarborough, Brzezinski and Geist, who all vaguely spoke about their Thanksgiving dinner and the ‘big game’ on Thursday.

‘I was quite flabbergasted by the way they were so deceptive about this . . . especially when they are always so quick to castigate lying [or] deception they attribute to others,’ the anonymous viewer told the Post.

The individual did not wish to be identified, but pulled enough weight to get the paper to publish an entire story about his outrage over the matter.

‘Fake news, fake news. And we’re making this up,’ said Scarborough of the viewers complaint while laughing at the notion a person could be so upset over what he explained is a long-running tradition.

‘It’s a schtick. We’ve been doing this for ten years.’

Brzezisnki once again stated: ‘I think Trump was watching. He can’t help himself.’

High praise: Brzezinski called the viewer a 'moron' multiple times, and repeatedly said it was likely President Trump who complained to the paper

Scarborough then spoke about the angry viewer, explaining: ‘Their source was a shocked and stunned and deeply saddened unnamed viewer…’

‘A moron,’ blurted out Brzeznski.

Scarborough continued: ‘Who didn’t wish to be identified.’

‘It was a moron!’ repeated Brzezinski.

‘Can you believe that?’ asked Scarborough.

‘It was definitely the President of the United States,’ Brzezisnki said once more through fits of laughter.

Scarborough then asked: ‘Are there no editors working through Thanksgiving weekend?’

He then joked: ‘I’m stuffed. By the way, Happy Fourth of July. Those fireworks last night. It’s a joke. We’re going to do it again.

‘And we were just – maybe the humor they get is like an animal falling on bugs bunny or something.’

The panel was all laughing at this point, with Brzezinski saying to her co-host and finance: ‘Trump doesn’t do humor, do you remember?’

Scarborough then said in closing, before moving on to the stories of the day: ‘Seriously, editors, please. Good god.’
