A mother in Moscow has been detained after allegedly ‘handcuffing’ and ‘chaining’ her 37- year-old daughter before beating her to death.
Irina Moskvitina died of ‘multiple’ wounds in hospital after doctors failed to save her life.
Her mother has been detained, according to reports in Moscow citing law enforcement sources.
Police found handcuffs, a chain, sticks and traces of blood in the flat Moskvitana shared with her mother.
The mother Olga Mostvitina, 66, is suspected of ‘chaining her daughter to prevent her leaving the flat – and later beating Irina to death’, according to one report.
No charges have been made.
One theory is that Irina was a drug addict and the family could not afford rehabilitation – and this is why she was chained.
