A Texas woman has been charged with attempted murder after she allegedly abandoned her newborn in a dumpster outside of a restaurant.

Alyssa Hazel Baker, 28, claimed she didn’t know she was pregnant when she gave birth to the baby boy last month while she waitressing at Souper Salad.

She told authorities that she went to the restaurant’s restroom on June 15 to pee when the ‘the baby just fell out,’ according to an affidavit obtained by the Star Telegram.

Baker said she had no idea she was pregnant because she had no signs of pregnancy like she did with her now 10-month-old daughter.

But recent cellphone records showed more than 50 internet searches regarding abortions and miscarriages, according to affidavit.

Just a month before the incident, Baker took to Facebook to ask her followers for babysitter recommendations.

‘Anyone know any babysitters that stay in Richland Hills Hurst area that dont [sic] cost too much,’ Baker wrote on the social media site.

A few days later she posted about that May had ‘been so stressful’ for her.

And just two weeks before she gave birth, Baker wrote that she needed ‘to borrow like 40 bucks asap’.

Baker’s coworker was the one who notified police after she witnessed Baker go in and out of the restaurant’s bathroom multiple times.

Jordan Edwards told police that she went in to check on Baker who had locked herself in a stall.

According to Edwards, Baker asked for a pair of scissors, and a short time later, Edwards brought them to her and left the restroom.

Baker then came out holding a black trash bag and the bloody scissors, according to the affidavit.

Edwards then called first responders and reported that she believed her coworker had a miscarriage.

Responding officers asked Baker about having a miscarriage and whether or not there was a fetus or baby in the dumpster.

According to the affidavit, Baker replied: ‘Yeah, I probably shouldn’t have done that.’

She allegedly told police that the baby had stopped crying and moving shortly after she gave birth.

That’s when she placed him inside the trash bag.

According to police, the crying baby was found inside the dumpster and authorities estimate he was there for nearly 47 minutes.

Baker’s baby was then taken to a local hospital where doctors listed him as being in good condition. The baby was born at 31 weeks.

Police arrested Baker Saturday evening and charged her with attempted capital murder.

She’s being held at the Tarrant County Jail on $50,000 bail.
