A young mother allegedly threatened her own mum and sister with a knife on Christmas Day because children in the house were being too loud while opening presents.

Lisa Bovington, 26, from Doonside in western Sydney, acted with ‘enraged anger’ after being woken up by the children, police allege.

Magistrate Robert Rabbidge told Parramatta Bail Court on Thursday that Bovington threatened her mother and her sister with a knife.

‘You took a knife to a family member because (the) children had opened their presents while you were asleep,’ Mr Rabbidge told the court, according to The Daily Telegraph.

‘You were sleeping throughout Christmas morning where children are excited – it is to be expected that they were making noise.’

Police also allege Bovington destroyed her mother’s ceramic leopard figure before leaving the home at around 11.40am.

But she was later arrested at Blacktown Police Station while reporting to officers over a separate bail condition.

Bovington’s bail application was formally refused, and she will remain behind bars until at least January 6.

She was charged with two counts of stalk and intimidate to cause fear and using weapons with an intention to commit an indictable offence.

Bovington will appear in Blacktown Local Court on January 6.

Her arrest was part of a police blitz on domestic violence over Christmas.

Officers were called to 2047 proactive domestic violence-related jobs, and 1004 apprehended violence order compliance checks.
