A 13-year-old boy was caught driving a car while a woman sat in the passenger seat with her two-year-old son on her knee.
The teenager was stopped by police in Peterborough at 11am yesterday after officers spotted him at the wheel.
When a member of the Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit asked him to pull over a woman inside said it was ‘only a short journey’.

Stunned officers tweeted about the incident, which also involved a woman with a toddler on her knee and no seat belt
Stunned officers tweeted: ‘Car being driven in Peterborough by a 13 yr old boy , also in the car was an unrestrained 2 yr old sitting on mums knee !!!, reply was ” It’s only a short journey.’
The woman is believed to be the toddler’s mother, whose father was also in the car. The teenager is related to both of them.
Officers say there were ‘numerous offences’ committed and those involved will be prosecuted.
