Tamy Morbarrez, pictured with husband Hamid and son Eli-Luca, was killed in a car crash on January 11 – on the same stretch of road where the Falkholt family died after their accident on Christmas Eve
An Olympic swimmer has revealed his heartache at losing his wife on the same stretch of road where Home and Away actress Jessica Falkholt’s family met their own tragic end just two weeks earlier.
Sydney’s Hamid Mobarrez doesn’t remember the head-on-collision on the south coast which killed his wife Tamy on January 11.
Mr Mobarrez told Daily Mail Australia the fact that two families have been torn apart in similar smashes along the same road is hard to take.
‘It is sad that it took the death of a high-profile person like Jessica to raise the alarm about the roads. But maybe that’s what it had to take to save lives later.’
Tragically, on Friday two more lives were claimed on the same fatal highway when two cars collided at Jerrawangala.
Mr Morbarrez, a doting dad, had just picked his family up from the train station before their tragic accident.
‘I was working down there and told them to come and have a nice little weekend with me,’ he said.

‘I didn’t think it was a dangerous road – but now I am terrified to go back.’
The gaps in his memory worry him the most.

But he said he will never forget the moment he came out of a week-long coma in hospital to tell his five-year-old son ‘mumma won’t be coming home’.
‘A few weeks before the crash we had been listening to the song Paradise when Eli-Luca asked what it was.

‘I said ”that’s where mumma has gone. You can hear her, and she can hear you and see you the only difference is you can’t see her”.’

In a statement to Daily Mail Australia, a spokesman for Road and Maritime Services said it is ‘looking at a number of treatments’ to improve safety between Sussex Inlet Road and Bendalong Road, near Ulladulla.
‘This may include installing safety barriers and audio tactile line markings to alert tired drivers when their vehicle moves out of the traffic lane,’ the spokesman said.
‘Roads and Maritime is also working on a route safety study to identify a range of road safety projects between Jervis Bay Road and Milton.’
The spokesman said more than $4.5 million worth of safety improvement work, including intersection upgrades and road shoulder widening, has already been carried out on this stretch of the Princes Highway during 2016 and 2017 .
Safe updates at more locations along the road will be delivered in June 2019.
