Mother drives into school bus carrying her own child after refusing to exit her vehicle

Aunt, 34, is arrested after she RAMMED her car into a school bus when the driver refused to let her nephew off because she wouldn’t get out of her vehicle to collect him

  • Ashley Laquita Moore, 34, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and culpable negligence exposure to injury 
  • Moore had parked at the child’s bus stop near Early Run Lane and Herons Path Place in Riverview, Florida, on November 19 at approximately 2pm 
  • She refused to get out of her car to retrieve her child
  • Parents are supposed to retrieve their children from the bus, as per Hillsborough County Public Schools guidelines
  • The guardian crashed her vehicle into the bus and was detained   

A Florida guardian was arrested after she allegedly slammed her vehicle into a school bus after the driver refused to let her child off because the woman would not exit her car. 

Ashley Laquita Moore, 34, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and culpable negligence exposure to injury after she was detained on November 19.

‘We value the safety of our children in Hillsborough County more than anything, and we will not stand for someone putting a child’s life at risk,’ Sheriff Chad Chronister said in a release.

‘This mother’s actions were irresponsible and completely uncalled for, since the bus driver was simply doing her job to protect the child on board. Aggressive behavior like this on the roadway is unacceptable.’

Moore had parked at the child’s bus stop near Early Run Lane and Herons Path Place in Riverview, Florida, when she refused to get out of the car to retrieve her car at around 2pm. Moore has been identified as the child’s guardian and aunt.

Footage shows the driver informing Moore that the child will be returned to the school if she does not retrieve them. 

The bus driver pulls off and Moore can be seen speeding to catch up to the driver before striking the back of the large vehicle. 

No injuries were reported at the scene and there was only minor damage to the vehicles. 

Moore’s child was the only child on the bus at the time.
