Mother fired gun in Atlanta mall to see if it was real

  • A 10-year-old boy found a gun at Lenox Square mall in Atlanta, Georgia, on Wednesday 
  • The gun was found in the dressing room of an Adidas store 
  • No charges have been filed and the case is still under investigation 

A mother’s curiosity got the best of her at an Atlanta mall on Wednesday evening. 

Police say a 10-year-old boy found a gun in an Adidas store dressing room and his mother pulled the trigger she said ‘to see if it was real’.

The mother and son were shopping at Lenox Square mall when the young boy found what he thought was a toy gun under a bench.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown said the mother took the .22 caliber gun from the boy and pulled the trigger ‘to see if it was real’.

A single shot was fired.  

There were no injuries and minimal damage has been done to the Adidas store wall. 

There have also been no charges filed or arrests but the case remains under investigation.  

Police have since taken the gun into evidence according to 11 Alive.
