A mother has been sentenced to nine months in prison for spitting at police officers and calling them ‘c**ts’.

She was drunk and resisted arrest, saying she would ‘f**king spit on you c**ts’ to the police officers.

Thompson then spat at police, Mackay District Court heard.
Police found $22 worth of stolen items – including a bottle opener, nose ring and earrings – in her handbag and took her back to the police station at Mackay on November 23, 2016.
She was given a private room to change out of her clothes but she then spat again at police officers.
Judge Paul Smith said Thompson looked at a female police officer and said ‘you f**king s**t’, before spitting directly into her face.
The police officer had to wear a spit-hood to protect herself from Thompson.
Thompson then screamed she was ‘going to Today Tonight, you’re a c**t’.

She pleaded guilty to two counts of seriously assaulting police, public nuisance, shoplifting and failing to appear.
Thompson cried while her case was being summed up, and was sentenced to nine months in prison, which will be suspended after two months.
