On average, they roughly 300 presents, aiming to spend between £100 and £200 for each main present, ‘then bits and bobs’. The kids write lists of what they want, but they don’t always get their dream items.

Two years ago, when shops are struggling with supply, they certainly haven’t got them. Sue and Noel have spent hours trying to source a particular Barbie doll’s house, a PS5 and a Scalextric set.

‘We have had to give up on the PS5 and we got the doll’s house eventually, but the cost was disgusting. It is supposed to be £240 but one site was offering it for over £700.’

The mother-of-22 can get through some 70 rolls of wrapping paper each year, with the food bill estimated to be around a whopping £300.

On top of this, the family had three Christmas trees – decorated with personalised baubles for the children – this year and stockings for every family member.

The Radfords caught the public’s attention as Britain’s biggest family in 2012 on a Channel 4 documentary 15 Kids and Counting, which followed their lives at home, getting through mountains of washing and food shopping.

Many new series on the family have aired since then, and the most recent was 22 Kids and Counting, which aired in May this year.

The large family does not rely on benefits and support themselves financially with their pie shop, which saw a boom of business over lockdown.
