Dad and his four young boys in disbelief after mum and her unborn baby die within days of each other following a tragic pregnancy mishap

- Her death leaves behind her husband and four boys
A mother and her unborn baby have tragically died after her uterus suddenly ruptured leaving her husband and four boys shellshocked.
Lauren Thompson was almost 37 weeks into her pregnancy with her baby girl Hannah when she was rushed to hospital with severe pains.
The 39-year-old suffered an obstetric tragedy after her uterus ruptured.
Ms Thompson’s baby didn’t survive the trauma before she also passed away on Saturday after fighting for her life for a week.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support her husband Ben and their four kids aged 2, 4, 7 and 9.

‘The news has hit everyone who knew her like a sledgehammer,’ the GoFundMe states.
‘Lauren was the most incredible mum, she devoted her life to her boys, and she homeschooled them with so much patience and passion.
‘Anyone who has met them could feel the love and respect between them all. She will be so deeply missed by everyone, especially her family.
‘The loss of such a kind human and amazing mum will be felt forever.’
The page provided an update saying since her death the four boys are ‘doing as well as can be expected given the circumstances’.
Her husband Ben Thompson told the Courier Mail her uterus had grown into her previous C-section scar and it wasn’t picked up in any scans, causing what happened to come as a complete shock.
‘I can’t believe she is gone,’ he said.
‘We have four boys aged from two to nine… The little ones have no understanding where their mum has gone.’
The cause of death remains in the hands of the coroner but it is understood the placenta grew too deep into the uterine wall and caused a rupture of the uterus.
Mr Thompson said medical staff originally thought his wife would make it through the ordeal but it wasn’t to be the case.

After she suffered a brain bleed, the boys and Mr Thompson went into the room to kiss her goodbye.
‘They all said, “love you mummy”. I don’t think they really understood it… I held her hand through it all.’ Mr Thompson said.
The father of four said his partner was a superwoman, homeschooling the boys and ‘made everything look so easy’.
‘People say their wife is their other half in such a nonchalant way, but she truly was mine,’ he said.
Both Lauren and Hannah will be cremated together and funds from the GoFundMe campaign will assist with funeral costs and with the ongoing support for the boys.
